Ratchada Night Market that is also known as Rodfai Night Market or Train Night Market, is a very popular night market, located at Bangkok's Ratchada District. Covering a large area, this place has numerous food stalls, pubs, salons and vendors selling clothes and accessoirs.
It's a vibrant, crowded place where Thailand's middle and working class meets for dining, shopping and socializing.
Regarding the culinary aspect, you can find all sorts of delishious Thai dishes and deserts. Also, more and more Western and Thai-Western fusion food can be found here nowadays. Furthermore, there is a large variety of seafood dishes with shrimp, crab, squid and grilled fish.
Tourists often have concerns regarding hygiena. However, there is no reason to be hesitant here, because the quality of food is not different than that in food shops. For a unique culinary experience, it's recommended to try a bit of all dishes and deserts that occur interesting or tempting.
Also, with its numerous pubs and bars it's a place to meet friends, socialize and drink in a laid-back atmosphere. Some of the bars have a terrace on their second floor, from where you have a nice view over whole area with all its food stalls that basically look like colorful tents from above.
Tip: If you want to get a beatiful snapshot from a higher spot, you can go to upper parking decks of the adjacent shopping mall's park. From there, it's possible to capture the complete nightmarket in one frame.
Apart from food, there is a vast amount of stalls for clothing, shoes, accessoirs and utensils. Even if you didn't plan to buy anything in particular, you will most likely find something interesting and end up buying stuff.
The night market can be reached by MRT. It's behind Esplanade Mall, a 5 min walk from MRT station Thailand Cultural Center.
Make sure you don't confuse Ratchada Train Market with the Sri Nakharin Train Market that is the largest Night Market in Bangkok and has a similar name.
