Pratunam district is a very popular shopping paradise for fashon and accessoirs. People from all corners of south Asia come here to find good quality clothing, shoes, accessoirs for wholesale prices. It's Thailand's biggest trading place for fashion.
With its high buildings often associated with Hong Kong, Pratunam is a vibrant place where modern meets traditional Asia. You see modern shopping malls and skyscrapers, while in between, there are numerous traditional markets, clothing shops and street vendors.
Beeing Thailand's second largest building, Bayoke II tower is one of Pratunams landmarks and a distinctive feature of Bangkok's skyline. It represents the rising economy of both Pratunam as a trading place and Thailand as a whole.
Recommended places for shopping here are Platinum fashion mall, Shibuya, Pratunam Market, Pantip IT Mall and Indra Square.
The Pratunam Market is an large open-air fashion market and is focussed on exporters who buy in large quantities. However, anyone is welcome shop here. Most of the items for sale are t-shirts, dresses, shorts, jeans, shoes and accessories. You could easily spend a day here without getting bored, as the area has a vast amount of more than 4,000 shops.
Furthermore, this place is home to a larger Chinese and Indian community, who dominate the cityscape at some sidestreets.
Also, Pratunam is home to numerous massage shops. It's a pleasant way to relax from a long shopping. For those, who seek more intimacy than just a massage, there are several 'special massage' shops at Soi Ratchaprarop 8.
Location: Pratunam district, between Ratchaprarop Road and Petchaburi Road
How to get there: BTS staion Ratchathewi (500 m), BTS Station Chitlom (500 m) or Airport Rail Link Station Ratchaprarop (500 m). Alternatively, from Khaosan district, you can take a boat at Panfa Leelard pier (near the Golden Mount) and get off at Pratunam pier.
