Khaosan Road is one of Bangkok's famous party and entertainment areas and is well known for being a mecca for Western backpackers since several decades.
This places distinguishes from other party destinations in Bangkok in such, that people can show up here in their casual dress and don't need to care about status. There are no uptied people around here.
A large number of clubs, bars, restaurants, shops and streetfood give visitors various options to have a joyful night. Its colorful lit lanterns, laughing gas inhling people, beer towers and people dancing on the street create a unique "hippie" atmoshphere Khaosan Road is known for.

It gets crowded after dark on every day of the week, while the busiest nights are Friday and Saturday, when most locals join the nightlife.
Moreover, Khaosan Road turns to a big street party at night time with people dancing on the street to the music of the adjacent bars and clubs. Thus, many young people buy their beer at a nearby 7-11 convenience store which is cheaper than getting the booze from the bars.
While Khaosan Road itself might be too noisy to some, alternatively, Rambuttri street (parallel to Khaosan Road) offers a more relaxig and laid-back ambiance. Here, most bars don't turn up the music to the max and it gets less crowded.
During Sungkran, the Thai new year, one of the biggest parties in the city takes place at Khaosan Road.

How to get there: The best way to get here from downtown Bangkok is to get off at Siam BTS station and take a taxi to Khaosan Road (<100 THB).
Recommended hours: The best time to go to Khaosan Road is after dark. Most bars close at 2 AM while some clubs are open till 4AM
