Bang Krachao
- by admin
Bang Krachao is a green, scarcely inhabited island on the Chao Praya River in southern Bangkok. Despite being situated close to downtown Bangkok, this island is a great contrast to the rest of the city. It's calm and green, consisting mostly of forests and farmland, while the inhabited areas of the island resemble a quiet fisherman's village.
Visiting Bang Krachao is the most convenient way to escape Bangkok's traffic and chaos to nature.
This island features a small floating market and a botanic reservoir that should be explored by bycicle.
Location: Bang Krachao, Samut Prakan (3 km south of Ekkamai)
How to get there: The best way to get to Bang Krachao is to take a bus or taxi to the Khlong Thoei Nok temple or Khlong Thoei Port and take boat to the island (5 minutes). A round trip costs 5 THB. At the pier on the island you can rent bycicles (highly recommended) for 40 THB (2 hours) or 80 THB (full day).
