Due to the vast leisure options, the large number of resorts, relatively low crime, beautiful beaches and the overall relaxing holiday flair of this region, Pattaya has become a family friendly holiday destination. Pattaya and its surrounding area attracts couples, families, seniors and retirees. Especially on weekends, there is a significant influx of expats and Thai families from Bangkok and Chonburi.

The Pattaya Weekend Trip

Day 1, Friday, 12 AM: Pattaya Weekend Trip begins

In the afternoon, we start our journey to Pattaya at the Eastern Bus Terminal right next to Ekkamai BTS station in Bangkok. A bus ticket costs 108 THB and it takes more than 2 hours. It’s recommended to take a rucksack instead of a suitcase, as it will prove far more convenient when getting around.

In Pattaya, we get off at the last stop, the Pattaya North Bus terminal. Once arrived, we can chose between a motorcycle taxi for 100-150 THB or a public pickup “Songteaw” that can drop us off not far from our hotel. We go for the pickup, since we are not in a hurry and want to continue our journey together in a group.

Our accommodation for this trip is the “Katesiree House” at Soi Buakhao. It’s a small, yet cozy and clean Hotel that costs 550 THB per night. With choosing this accommodation, we keep things simple; there is no pool, gym or an elevator. Just a chill lobby and bar area at the entrance. The rooms have A/C, a king-sized bed, flat screen TV, a new looking shower and a desk with a chair. The bed is comfortable and the white bed sheets are clean. We don’t need more, as we will spend most of our time outside.

We get off from the Songteaw pickup truck at Central Festival on Beach Road and walk through narrow side streets to our Hotel. After a shower and a short rest, we drink a Chang beer downstairs (60 THB). At a local food shop cross the street, we have late lunch. Our fried garlic chicken with rice costs only 70 THB. Water with ice is free.

Day 1, 2-3 PM: Rent a motorbike

At a bike rental a hundred meters from our Hotel, each of us rents a scooter for 200 THB the day. The gasoline tank is almost empty. However, the tanks can be empty when we return them too. Unlike the jet ski scam, where people in Pattaya and Phuket are forced to pay for damages that already existed, there is usually no such scam for motorbike rentals in Pattaya. To be on the safe side, it’s recommended to take some photos of pre-existing damages before taking the motorbikes. After all, we don't want our eventful Pattaya weekend trip to become a nightmare.

Day 1, 3-5 PM: Jomtien Beach

Once we have our motorbikes, we head south to Jomtien Beach, which is a 5-6 km long beach promenade south of downtown Pattaya. Even though the water doesn’t look as clear as in Thailand’s south, it’s clean and you can swim without concerns.

Here, you will see mostly Thai families from Bangkok and Chonburi. While relaxing at the beach, you can order some beer or seafood from the nearby food shops. After watching the sunset, we get back to our Hotel, take some rest and get ready for the night.

Wash yourself, don’t wear sandals or flip flops in bars or clubs (don’t be a moron)

Pattaya is a beach holiday destination. It’s totally fine to wear shorts or a t-shirt when going out for partying. People are not as uptight as in Bangkok. However, don’t wear sandals or flip flops or even a tank top. It’s a fashion disaster and you will look like a total moron. Moreover, make sure you don’t smell bad (unfortunately, some Indian fellows you run across in Pattaya don’t shower for days). Otherwise, people will look down upon you as a pathetic, low-class sex tourist. Even if some of us folks can be described as such, we don’t need to look like that, do we?

Our appearance (the way we look, dress, smell and interact) has a direct impact on women’s attitude towards us. If you appear sleazy and pathetic, the girls here will solely interact with you due to prospective financial benefits. She might even ask for a higher price to compensate this unpleasant time with you. However, if you have a proper appearance, women won’t see spending time with you as ‘hard work' or nuisance. Moreover, if you happen to be a charming guy on top of that, she might even be attracted by you. Thus, she might charge you less than usual or even accompany you for free, given that she likes you.

Day 1, 7-9 PM: Massage time

We took some rest, and now it’s time for a massage. There are hundreds, if not thousands of massage shops in Pattaya. To keep things simple, we chose the ones near our Hotel.
There are 2 options: A traditional Thai massage or on Soi Buakhao or, a not so traditional massage with a ‘happy ending’ at Soi Honey.
For now, we stick with the first option. Thus, we walk till the end of Soi Buakhao in northern direction. 50 m before the end of this street, there are plenty massage shops. The price is 150 THB for an hour. It's worth to mention that, neither are the girls here young, nor are they pretty. However, we are here for a traditional massage. And that’s what these ladies are quite good at.

Day 1, 9 PM: Dinner at Pattaya Khlang Market

Decent local food is a must have for a decent Pattaya weekend trip. About 150 m from the massage shops, there’s a small food & dining market with a large variety of Thai dishes for relatively low prices. We order Tom Ka Chicken with rice, Larb Moo with sticky rice, Seafood salad and Watermelon smoothies. The portions are large and taste well. The dishes cost 100 THB each, while the smoothie costs 60 THB.

Day 1, 10:30 PM: Short-time at Soi 6

After massage and dinner, it’s time for some action. Thus, we take a Songteaw at Second Road and drive to Pattaya’s infamous Soi 6. It’s a surreal, narrow street of 300 m length that is completely full of beer bars and girls on both sides. You will see hundreds of young, sexy dressed, willing bar girls waiting for a customer to drink with, and/or to go upstairs to have 'short time' (i.e. sex for 1 hour). You read it right, each bar has a bedroom upstairs designated for sex between staff and customers.

However, the sex part is optional. You are not obliged to do that when you come to Soi 6. You can also just stick with a beer and watch the girls. Yet, these girls know how to seduce men and can get you in the right mood easily. It's kind of an etiquette rule to have a nice time with a lady in Pattaya. A beer costs 100 THB. Expect to be approached by girls the moment you enter the bar. They will introduce themselves and escort you to your table. They will talk to you, play with you and try to make you feel special. And of course, they will ask for a lady drink, which they get a commission for. To guests, it’s totally fine, while others feel uncomfortable with these girls being clingy.

Once we arrive at Soi 6, we chose a random bar with pretty looking girls. Before we even reach our table, some girls come, take our hands and start some small talk. Most of these girls are from Esaan Region in northeastern Thailand. While I am still undecided to go for more intimacy with the girl on my lap, others from our group are already going upstairs with their girls. They pay 300 THB as bar fine, and 1000 THB for the girl. You have an hour with her; yet, depending on your libido and what you have negotiated with her , you can have 1 or more shots.

Day 1, midnight: Beach Road

Having released pressure and after several beers, we head down to Beach road (300m walk) and take a Songteaw to Walking street. On the way, we see dozens of freelance girls lined up along Beach road waiting for a customer. At late hour, these girls usually agree to go home with you for less than 700 THB.

Day 2, 12:20 AM: Walking Street/I-Bar

It's time for some party action to complete the first day of our Pattaya weekend trip. So we heat to Walking Street. It is an overwhelming place. All these neon lights, bars, clubs, A-go-go bars, girls, ladyboys and the noise. It’s hot and crowded. Thus, we decide to head straight to I-Bar. Unlike its name, I-Bar is not just a bar; rather, it can be considered as a club. There are tables all over the venue and people are dancing and drinking between them. Featured music here is mainstream pop, hip hop, EDM and some Thai country songs. One end of I-Bar has a large terrace with sea view, where we set up our base. As all tables are already occupied, we ask a group to join their table. This is normal here, and people are usually okay with it.

Instead of ordering a beer or a cocktail, we go for a bottle. I-Bar has great bottle deals. You get a bottle of Sang Som (Thai rum) with 4 mixers and a bucket of ice for about 1100 THB. If you have a I-Rewards membership card, you even get 20% off. So, we only pay 880THB. A bottle is enough for 3-4 people for the night. On top of that, you can invite other girls to drink with you.

Around 95% of the girls here are freelancer girls who either do this full-time or just as a side-job to earn extra money. However, it doesn’t mean that all girls here will accept to go to your hotel for money. Some freelancer girls just came to socialize and party with their friends, while others might reject you because you are simply not their type. Conversely, if a girl really likes you and you have a lucky day, you might get a freebie with her. It’s rare, but it happened to me once.

Unlike girls at beer bars, the girls here are not clingy and don’t approach you. If they are interested in you, they will keep eye contact and smile. Then, you can approach her and talk to her.

Insomnia Club

I-Bar is directly connected to Insomnia Club. You just need to walk upstairs. You can use the I-Rewards membership card here aswell. However, you can’t take your drinks upstairs, as the prices are 20-30% higher at Insomnia.

The girls here, are prettier in my view and you have a larger choice. However, you don’t have an ocean view, it’s too crowded and the music is much louder. It’s almost impossible to have a conversation.

At both Insomnia and I-Bar, the usual price girls call is between 1000-2000 THB for the night.

Day 2, 3:30 AM: Time for some bed time action

After finishing the bottle, lots of dancing, flirting and kissing, it is time to go back and get laid. We walk together, each of us with a girl to Second Road to get on a public Songteaw pickup truck. It costs 10 THB, but takes longer. If you are impatient, you can take a motorcycle taxi, each for you and your girl (total 200 THB). In my view, it’s a waste of money.

At the hotel lobby, girls from outside are required to hand in their ID cards for security reasons. There is usually no joiner fee in Pattaya.

After a shower, what follows is a girlfriend like sex performance with kissing, blowjobs, various sex positions, lots of silly talk and laughter. Some of these girls are really good at entertaining and giving you a super fun time. At 5 AM, we are out of power and decide to sleep. Good night.

Day 2, 10 AM: Koh Larn Island

Thanks to the alarm I had set, I get up at 10 AM, send my girl home and wake up my friends. We buy some snacks at 7-11 and drive with our motorbikes to the Bali Hai Pier at the southwest end of Walking Street. It’s a quite long peer, and the boat to Koh Larn is at the very end. Walking there out in the sun is exhausting. Luckily, we have caps and sunglasses. Tickets can be bought right in front of the boat and cost 30 THB one way. During the 40 min boat ride to the island, we eat our snacks as poor man’s breakfast and I decide to catch up on sleep.

Koh Larn has 3 major beaches. We decide to visit 2 beaches, so we rent motorbikes at the main village of the island for 300 THB. It’s a bit expensive, but it gives us more freedom. Our first stop is Samae beach at the Island’s west about 20 minutes from the pier. The water here is turquoise blue and it is not very crowded. Each beach chair with umbrella costs 100 THB. But, we decide to only swim and chill in the water before move.

After an hour, we head to Tawaen beach, at the Island’s northeast. During the ride, we cross hills with green, bush-like vegetation. Tawaen Beach is a beautiful spot. However, it is suffering from a daily Chinese tourist invasion between 11AM-4:30PM. They come in large groups and are unfortunately noisy and inconsiderate. The water is light blue. We are told that in the early morning hours and in the evening, it’s the best time to swim here. There are less people and less sediments are whirled up, so that the water looks much clearer. Yet, you can only do that when you stay on the island overnight, as the last boat leaves at 5:20 PM. Maybe another time.

Since there is no other shady place and don't want to get a sun burn, I pay 100 THB for a beach chair and take a nap. As we want to watch the sunset in Pattaya, we decide to take the boat back at 4:15 PM from the main village.

Day 2, 5 PM: Sunset Watching at Central Festival

From the pier in Pattaya we drive to Central Festival Shopping mall on Beach road. At the 5^th floor, there’s a KFC restaurant facing the beach side. We grab some food, cold drinks, ice cream and sit outside on the terrace to enjoy a beautiful panoramic view over Pattaya Beach and of course, the sunset. Alternatively, for those who prefer a fancier location, there is a bar on the upper floors of Hilton Hotel, right next to Central Festival.

Find a freelance girl for a quickie on Tinder

It’s 6:20 PM now, after sweating all day, we finally go back to our hotel to take a shower and rest. One of us says, he doesn’t want to shower alone. So, he grabs his phone and skips through Tinder. It’s well-known dating app. However, in Pattaya, it’s mostly used as hook-up app to find freelancer girls. After 10 minutes of swiping and several matches, he comes to terms with a girl. She will come over to his place, shower and have sex with him for 600 THB/h.

Seafood Restaurant at Jomtien

At 8:20 PM, we are all ready and drive to Lungsawai Seafood restaurant at the very end of Jomtien Beach. It’s a popular place and my Thai friends recommended me to go there. It takes 30 minutes to get there, but it’s totally worth it. A large variety of fresh shrimp, squid, fish, oysters, crabs and special sauces make this dinner a great culinary experience. We pay 500 THB each.

Day 2, 10 PM: Back to Walking Street

Right before the restaurant closes, we are done with our feast and decide to go back Walking Street. It’s prime time at Walking Street and all bar girls are lined up for another night of drinking, dancing and a ‘long time’ at a hotel with a customer. At first, we go to one of the beer bar lanes of Walking Street. Dozens of pretty bar girls who smile at me and who would love to go back to my room for some monkey business. But it’s too early, and we want to see more.

After a beer there, we move on to ‘What’s Up?’ and thereafter to ‘Skyfall’. Both are A-Go-Go bars. While Skyfall has prettier girls in bikinis, the show at What’s up is more interesting. You can watch naked girls scrubbing each other in a bath tub and sometime they lick each other’s precious areas. The beers here are about 120 and 150 THB. My friends have girls sitting on their lap, but we want to go clubbing. In case you want to take a girls to your room, expect to pay 600 THB bar fine and 3000-4000 THB for the girl.

Lucifer

We continue our night at Lucifer Club. Besides the dancing club area, there is a live music area right next to the entrance. Live bands usually play popular mainstream pop songs here. A beer costs 160 THB.

I-Bar part II

Again, we chose I-Bar as our location for the night. The SangSom bottle deal for 880 THB is too tempting. Just like the night before, we drink, keep eye contact to girls, approach them, drink and make out with them. It is even more crowded than the night before. You can see guys and freelancer girls everywhere.

Interesting fact: What we have noticed is that there are no Thai men around. We are told that they don’t let local guys in, since there have been problems, when a boyfriend or husband of some freelancer girls got jealous and caused trouble seeing her with a customer.

Insomnia at 4-5 AM: A human flesh market

At 4-5 AM some of us have already a girls and head back to their room, while others go upstars to Insomnia – including me. What we witness at this hour is surreal: Insomnia Club has turned into a human sex market. People are drunk, happy and everywhere you see someone negotiating for services and special prices with freelance girls.

This is because at late hour, girls go down with their pricing, in case they haven’t found a customer yet. Thus, they don’t go home having only spend money for their own drinks. After all, they also have to buy drinks in this venue. It’s their investment for their business. I run into a cute, short girl who is also fluent in English. She wants me to take her home for 1000 THB the night. However, I am too drunk for some “body exercise” and chose to go home alone.

Day 3: Breakfast Buffet

Since my group went home with a girl the night before, I don’t get any reply from them, when I get up at 9:30 AM with headache. I had set the alarm, so as to make it on time to the breakfast buffet at the restaurant section of Centara Azure Hotel, just a few hundred meters from our Hotel at Soi Bukhao 15. It’s a high class Western breakfast buffet for only 199 THB. Besides the fancy aquarium in the middle of the restaurant, which I can’t keep my eyes off, this buffet has a large variety of delicious items. Unfortunately, the buffet is from 6:30 AM till 10:30 AM only.

Day 3, noon: View Point after checkout

After the delicious breakfast, I go back to my room and take a nap till checkout time at noon. This time it’s my friends, who knock on my door and try long to wake me up.

After checkout, before we finish Pattaya weekend trip, we drive to Phra Tamnak Mountain view point which is located between Pattaya and Jomtien. It’s a green hilltop with a temple, a view point platform and a café with a panoramic view over the city. As the afternoon heat is intense and we are still hung over, we just hang out at the cool and shady open-air café that is surrounded by trees. I order a Thai green tea with milk for 35 THB.

Last massage & end of our trip

After returning our motorbikes, we walk to Pattaya Saysong (Second Road) and enter a massage shop for a foot & shoulder treatment. Here, the massage is a bit more expensive than on Soi Buakhao. We pay 250 THB for an hour of relaxation, wellness and pain.

After, we take a Songteaw on the same road to northern direction. We get off at the roundabout and take another Songteaw across the construction site of Terminal 21 shopping mall, that takes us to Pattaya Northern Bus terminal.

Concludingly, we had a very eventful time with sightseeing and various activities that completed our Pattaya weekend trip. In total, we had almost three days for 4000 – 6000 THB including accommodation, food, drinking and girls. Actually, Pattaya has so much more to offer than just sexual activities, such as an Aquarium, Aqua Park, The Sanctuary of Truth, Sa Kaew Beach, Scuba diving courses, Cabaret shows, cinemas, bowling, dinner cruise, skydiving, rooftop bars and so on. To cover all these, one needs more time and money, of course.
